Beyond participating in the ENERGY STAR Community with their buildings to earn ENERGY STAR Certification, Electric Utilities are key influencers and active supporters to help the community it serves.

  • Provide both bill Invoice and 15-minute Interval Data for each building that elects to participate.

  • Provide energy expertise that supports efforts to improve a building’s energy performance.

  • Provide financial incentives for selecting energy efficiency projects that buy the initial cost/investment down.

  • Educate and motivate participation from its customers to assist in better managing the power grid, the source of electricity, and the required supply of electricity need by its market at different times of the year. The more effective its customers participation is, the lower the cost the utility needs to charge for its power.

  • Participation in the growth of ENERGY STAR Community as a workforce development model better prepares local high school students for the job market and their future.
